NRA FUNDAMENTAL TRAINING
NRA First Steps Courses for modern Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun are the latest addition to the NRA's training programs for new shooters. FIRST stands for "Firearm Instruction, Responsibility and Safety Training". These courses provides hands-on orientation to one specific rifle, pistol or shotgun model. All courses are only a half day in length and participants receive a completion certificate.
NRA Basic Firearm Training Courses in the disciplines of Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun teach the principles of safe handling and shooting which help to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude for safe and legal use of firearms. These courses are available to all persons not precluded by law from using firearms.Ownership of a firearm is not necessary as they will be provided as needed. All courses are 12 to 14 hours in length over two days, except pistol which is only one day.
